Steve Jobs went on stage and announced the Apple iPad 2 March 2nd. The new iPad had improved specs and kept the same price point with models between $499 and $829. Samsung has not announced an official price yet, but it appears that what they were planning on was higher than what Apple has.
Competition is a wonderful thing. The Galaxy Tab probably will not end up costing $499, but there is a good chance that we will end up seeing a $599 model.
The 10-inch (tablet) was to be priced higher than the 7-inch (tablet) but we will have to think that over.

The Samsung Mobile VP also goes on to say that the parts in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 are inadequate to the iPad 2 and that Apple made the new iPad very thin. That previous statement does not make very much sense since the iPad 2 is only 2.1 mm thinner than the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Also the parts in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 seem on par if not better than the iPad 2. Maybe Samsung knows something that we don’t.
Either way if the price goes down, then the consumer wins. So let’s rejoice.
