New 7-Inch Galaxy Tab Coming, Everybody Rejoice!

Whoa! It looks like some details have surfaced on the unannounced successor of the Original Galaxy Tab 7. When the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was announced, there was a huge uproar because it did not have a 7-inch display. The advantage of the smaller screen size is you can hold it easily in one hand and even put it in your back pocket.
It will be powered by the same 1.2 GHz dual-core Exynos processor found in the Galaxy S II. Also it will have twice the RAM found in the original Galaxy Tab which comes to 1 GB total. But it only has 2 GB of ROM but it has a micro SD slot. That rules! The screen is 7 inches and has a 1024 x 600 resolution. It will be capable of phone calls, video calls, and text messages.
There is a downside, but it is not as bad as you might think. The operating system powering the Galaxy Tab is Gingerbread 2.3.4 instead of Honeycomb. The reason for this is because Google has been secretly denying 7 inch tablets Honeycomb because Honeycomb does not look good in portrait mode (which is how one would use a 7 inch tablet usually). The tablet is due out this fall, the same time Ice Cream Sandwich which brings together phone and tablet operating systems. Hopefully they will have fixed the portrait problem and the Galaxy Tab 2 will get the Ice Cream Sandwich update soon after launch.
