Galaxy Tab 10.1 beats iPad in outdoor contrast ratio test

According to a study by DisplayMate.com, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 outperforms the new iPad (iPad 3), iPad 2, Kindle Fire, and Motorola Xoom when it comes to outdoor contrast. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 scored a 57, iPad 2 scored 47, Kindle Fire scored 24, and the Xoom scored 20. For some reason the iPad 3 was not given a score, but was said to be better than the iPad 2 and “just behind” the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

So what does this mean for you? It means that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will perform better outside than some of its closest competitors. At least that is what DisplayMate.com reports. It is still much harder to read the display in sunlight than indoors. Turning the brightness up helps though.
