Accessories

I know you guys love accessories, and many of you have probably searched for a good Tab accessory list on other websites only to come up empty-handed. Look no further! Below is a list of all the accessories you might need for your Galaxy Tab that will be updated as more accessories are released.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 Leather Pouch

Leather Pouch

Pros
Very attractive
Thin profile
Cons
Not a lot of protection
Can’t use Tab while in case

The Leather Pouch has a very sleek, executive feel to it. It does not add much bulk to the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The leather has a very nice feel to it. The only mark on it is the embossed SAMSUNG logo on the bottom right that actually makes the case seem more valuable.

This baby is not going to protect against any serious drops or accidents. It is just a thin piece of leather wrapped around your precious tablet. So you still need to be careful with it. What it will do though is protect against scratches. You can put it in a bag and not have to fear for its safety.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 Multi-Media Dock

Multi Media Dock

Pros
Decent Stand
Cons
HDMI adapter sold seperately
Can’t charge and stream video via HDMI at same time

First let me comment on video out support. Out of the box there is absolutely none. Unlike the original Galaxy Tab’s multi-media dock, there is no HDMI port built into the dock. In order to get HDMI capabilities you need to buy the Galaxy Tab Adapter (HDTV) for an addition $40. That brings your cost up to $75. Compare that to the $45 for the original Galaxy Tab multi-media dock that has HDMI out built in. Rip off.

The other component of the dock is being a charging/syncing station. Not that anybody actually uses their computer to sync with their tablet, but the charging capabilities are good. It also has a 3.5 mm jack for audio out.

ZooGue Galaxy Tab 10.1 Case Genius Black Leather

Keyboard Dock

Pros
Genuine Leather
Ports and cameras open
Adjustable Stand
Cons
Velcro and felt take away from the high quality look

First I would like to talk about how the case looks and feels. It is covered head to toe in a black leather that looks quite professional. The front is also accented with black velcro straps that do actually take some of the high quality feel away from the case. We will get into why they are there later. The inside of the case is made up of a felt material that looks fairly bland. But all in all, the case does look sleek and high quality.

This case offers a decent amount of protection. The leather case will protect the screen from any scratches. Even though the Tab is extremely thin, you can put it in a backpack with this case and not have to worry about books hurting it.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tek-nical Memory Foam Carrying Case

Memory Foam Case

Pros
Side pockets
Carrying handle
Cons
No port access

First we will look at how the case looks. It is important, to me at least, to have a case that is stylish like the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Incipio’s design works very well, but the color scheme ruins it. I received the olive green model to review and it loses points because of the color. There is also a black model that could very well look better, but I have not seen it.

This case was designed to do one thing – carry your Galaxy Tab 10.1 safely from point A to point B. It is able to execute that flawlessly. The memory foam padding keeps the Tab safe from any drops or bumps. Because your tablet will be completely enclosed in the case, you will not have to worry about something else in your bag leaking or dust getting into the ports – it is protected.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 Keyboard Dock

Keyboard Dock

Pros
Easy to type on
Increases productivity
Cons
Sometimes buggy
Price

One thing that has kept many users from adopting touchscreen devices is the lack of a physical keyboard. Tablets are large enough to be docked onto keyboards though. Today I am going to review the official Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Keyboard Dock.

My first experience with the dock was bad to say the least. It took me forever to get the keyboard to work! After a long search on the internet, I found the solution. Power off the Galaxy Tab, place in dock, and then power on. Since then it has paired flawlessly each time.

Case-Mate Express Case

Pros
Slim design
Charging and audio ports open
Cons
Trouble putting the Tab in
$35 price tag
7/10

It has been a few weeks since I unboxed the case, but the review is finally here. I put the case through its paces by carrying it in my backpack for college, taking it out to a coffee shop, and general use around the house.

The first thing I noticed upon testing the case out was how slim it was. So slim in fact that I had trouble putting the Galaxy Tab in at first. After a few minutes I got the hang of it, but was quite frustrated at first. I fell in love with the magnetic fasten after that. The soft poof the case makes when it closes gives you confidence that your Galaxy Tab is secured inside.

Trident Case Aegis Series

Pros
Comfortable
Two part design offers great protection
Cons
Frustrating to put on
Flimsy port covers
8/10

A few days ago I unboxed this case and the more I used it the more I liked it. At first it did not exude an awe factor and made me think negatively about it.

The case has two parts, a soft rubber case inside of a harder plastic shell. Its hard plastic shell comes in six different colors – blue, yellow, black, red, pink, and ballistic green.

Putting the case on is frustrating to say the least. The shell has to be forced over the soft silicon and then you have to make sure all the ports are lined up correctly. For the first five minutes my Galaxy Tab was booting on and off because the case was not completely on and was holding down the power button.

Waterfield Designs Tablet Ultimate SleeveCase

Sleevecase

Pros
High quality
Good protection
Cons
Price
No port access
7/10

Upon first blush you can tell that WaterField Designs used top notch materials in the case. The case I am reviewing had leather trimming, a $5 add-on, which looks and feels great. My girlfriend actually commented on how soft it felt.

The case definitely has a noticeable bulk though. I had my doubts that it would fit in my laptop bag without making a bulge, but was happily disproven. The reason for the heft is for the protection it offers. It is cushioned by neoprene and wrapped in a nearly indestructible nylon shell. I was actually comfortable enough with the padding to drop the case with my precious Galaxy Tab in it. Of course it came out without a scratch.
