App of the Week – Titanium Backup

You guys voted on the poll and almost unanimously said you want the App of the Week feature to stay. I was surprised by the results. Now I need your help. Find apps for App of the Week is difficult. So if you have an app that you think should be featured, then share in the comments. Thanks!

Well this week the application is Titanium Backup. It is invaluable when it comes to backing up your apps and data, especially when installing new ROMs. And believe me, I have installed so many ROMs this past week.

Galaxy Tab 8.9 vs Galaxy Tab 7.7

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is coming out later this month according to Best Buy’s website, and the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is coming in the coming months according to Samsung. A lot of people missed the smaller form factor of the original Tab, so which of the these two is better?

That’s right boys and girls, the elusive Galaxy Tab 8.9 is finally about to land on US shores. Note that this is not the 1.5 GHz LTE model, but instead the 1 GHz Wi-Fi only model. That might be a disappointment for some, but it is what was promised by Samsung earlier this year.

Best Buy has them up for pre-order now for $469.99 and $569.99 for 16 GB and 32 GB respectively. That is $30 cheaper than the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it is more portable. Which is better? That is for you to decide when they ship out between September 25th and 30th.

Overcome ROM comes to Galaxy Tab 10.1

Team Overcome has released their first ROM for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. For those of you that do not know, the Overcome ROM was among the most popular ROMs available for the Original Galaxy Tab.

There are not many ROMs yet available for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, so this one is definitely welcome!

My mission is simple. I aim to vastly improve the stock user experience on Samsung devices. I think that Samsung makes fantastic hardware, however fails to bring the same level of software quality to their devices. This is where I step in. I take the base rom, as provided by Samsung, and perform further optimization and modification to it. My mods aim not to completely customize the user interface, but rather add some very useful key functionality while retaining the “stock android” look.
