App of the Week – IMDb Movies & TV

IMDb (Internet Movie Database) is a website with very detailed information about movies from their actors to random trivia. So this week we are featuring their app for App of the Week. The original Galaxy Tab is stuck with the phone optimized version of the app, but the real action is on Honeycomb.

Basically you can do anything that you would do on the website, right on your tablet. That means you can get showtimes for movies near you, US Box Office Results, Coming Soon, Top 250, and more!

Download it from the Android Market for free today! Add to the 10 to 50 million downloads it already has.

App of the Week – Plume for Twitter

This week’s App of the Week is Plume for Twitter. As the name might suggest, it is a Twitter client for both the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Tab 10.1. That means it will work on both Froyo/Gingerbread and Honeycomb.

With this app you can do everything you need to do on Twitter including checking your timeline, retweeting messages, and following the latest trends.

The application is completely customizable. You can change the colors, font sizes, notification settings and more.

You can download the ad supported version or the premium version ($2.87) from the Android Market.

If you need somebody to follow on Twitter, then why not follow us?

App of the Week – SketchBook Express

SketchBook Express is an application developed for Honeycomb devices (although there is a version for the original Galaxy Tab) for you to sketch out pictures as elaborate as you want them to be.

I love using the app even though I am no artist. It works especially well when combined with a capacitive stylus.

When I use the app I end up feeling like such an artist. All of the different kinds of brushes make everything I draw look amazing.

Read what the developers have to say about the app below.

For everyone who loves to draw – Autodesk SketchBook.
Autodesk® SketchBook® Express for Android is a fun and intuitive drawing application, optimized for use on Honeycomb tablet devices. Get a taste of the professional-grade paint and drawing tools available in the award winning SketchBook Pro.

GDSketchBook Express from the Android Market for you Galaxy Tab 10.1 and SketchBook Mobile Express for the original Galaxy Tab.

App of the Week – Feedly

RSS Feeds are all over the internet, practically every website has one. It is the best way to see when your favorite sites post new stories or articles instead of refreshing each websites page. Applications that show all of your RSS Feeds are called RSS Readers. This week’s App of the Week is an RSS Reader called Feedly.

Feedly is like many other RSS Readers out there, but it has two things going for it. The first thing is that it is free! Second is that the design is intuitive and beautifully simple.

The app will show all of your unread RSS Feeds in a myriad of different layouts. Though it is not as cool as Flipboard which is currently only available on the iPad. Here is hoping it will come to Android.

You can sync Feedly with your existing Google Reader account or use the app by adding your own feeds. Might I suggest adding GalaxyTabs.com’s feed to stay up to date on the Samsung Galaxy Tab?

You can download Feedly today from the Android Market for free. Enjoy elegant RSS Feeds on your tablet!

App of the Week – Scrabble

The recent TouchWiz update brought Words with Friends and made me realize how bad it really is. My friend and I had a lot of trouble connecting to a game and even when we did, it was very slow. It would take minutes to update after each turn. That is why this weeks App of the Week is Scrabble.

Scrabble is not a Honeycomb-optimized experience, but still works just fine. It will work perfectly on the original Galaxy Tab though. The game can only be played in portrait mode which is a bit of an annoyance but the gameplay makes up for it.

If you have ever played the original board game, then you will feel right at home with EA’s version of the game. The gameplay is quick and easy. The best part is that there is no wait time between turns (except for ads).

You can download Scrabble today for free from the Android Market.

App of the Week – Fieldrunners HD

Fieldrunners HD is a very popular tower defense game. The HD version was redesigned for devices with larger screens. It is a great game and has earned its place as App of the Week!

There are four levels in Fieldrunners HD. Each requires a different strategy for winning. There are seven different types of towers to destroy the enemies trying to make their way across the screen.

This game can get addictive fast. I have spent many hours trying to get by the harder levels. There is a fast forward button to make the game go by faster. It can save you some time.

Download Fieldrunners HD today from the Android Market for $2.99. Remember if change your mind and want to return any app, you have 15 minutes to delete it from your Tab to get a full refund.
