Netflix Officially Supported on original Galaxy Tab

Netflix finally got around to allowing all 2.2 (Froyo) and 2.3 (Gingerbread) Android devices official access to Netflix. It has been available through unofficial channels for quite some time, but official support is always welcome.
You can download Netflix from the Android Market for free on your original Galaxy Tab right now.
If you want to rock Netflix on your Galaxy Tab 10.1 or 10.1v, then check out this link.

No Galaxy Tab 10.1 for Germany. Ever. (Update)

The German court made a final decision today to ban the Galaxy Tab 10.1 permanently. Sorry German folks but the court rules in defense of Apple claiming that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was too similar to the design of the iPad 2. The doctored pictures did not seem to change the court’s mind.
I am not sure what the fate of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 will be or what this means for the rest of Europe. All I know is that I am very disappointed.
Update: This may have been premature, but it does not look good for the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

App of the Week – IMDb Movies & TV

IMDb (Internet Movie Database) is a website with very detailed information about movies from their actors to random trivia. So this week we are featuring their app for App of the Week. The original Galaxy Tab is stuck with the phone optimized version of the app, but the real action is on Honeycomb.
Basically you can do anything that you would do on the website, right on your tablet. That means you can get showtimes for movies near you, US Box Office Results, Coming Soon, Top 250, and more!
Download it from the Android Market for free today! Add to the 10 to 50 million downloads it already has.

Galaxy Tab 7.7 removed from IFA floor

Samsung just announced the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Note Thursday at IFA in Berlin. Now there is no sign that the Galaxy Tab 7.7 was ever there. Not only is the device not available in the showroom, but all of the posters for it have been covered up.
Samsung has removed the Galaxy Tab 7.7 from our stand at IFA. We cannot make any further comment as we have not received an official statement from the court.
- Samsung Europe spokesperson Brendon Gore
Brendon Gore goes on to say that this was a choice Samsung made and not something ordered by the court. It appears that Samsung just does not want to take any risks with the new Galaxy Tab and just wanted to show it off at the trade show as quickly as possible.
I hope that all of the attendees were able to experience the 7.7 inch Super AMOLED Plus screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 before it vanished.
The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is still going to be sold. However, there is a rumor that the 7.7 will not be available in the United States. I have contacted Samsung about this and hope to get an answer soon!
Update: It appears that there was actually a second injunction granted by the German court preventing the promotion of Samsung tablets in Germany. Sad…

Samsung CEO says they will not license or buy webOS

CEO Choi Gee Sung announced that Samsung would not be putting webOS on their products. That means no webOS variant of the Galaxy Tab. This may or may not be good news to you, but I for one am sad that such a fine operating system is dying fast.

Galaxy Note announced at IFA

The Galaxy Note is the Galaxy Q we heard about in July. It is a 5.3 inch Super AMOLED phone/tablet hybrid, much like the Dell Streak before it. Unlike the Dell Streak, it has a screen resolution meant for tablets (1280 x 800). That brings the pixel density to a whopping 285 pixels.
Currently the device does tend to lag slightly despite the 1.4 GHz dual-core CPU found inside it. The Note also has a GB of RAM to compliment it. As for storage you can find 32 GB of internal storage plus microSD up to 32 GB.
One of the factors that sets the phone apart is the S Pen stylus coupled with it. It is a magnetic, pressure sensitive pen that will work on the Galaxy Note’s capacitive screen. There will be a few productivity apps launching on the devices that take advantage of the pen input. Also Samsung will release an SDK in hopes that more developers will include support for the S Pen in their apps.
There will be two variants available depending on the network. One will sport HSPA+ and the other will pack LTE.
No precise release date or pricing, but Samsung did say that it would be available in the “next coming months.”

Galaxy Tab 7.7 announced at IFA

The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is completely official and better than we could have hoped. Like the name suggests, it has a 7.7 inch screen with a 1280 x 800 screen resolution. If that high pixel density did not get you going, then the screen technology certainly will. The screen is Super AMOLED Plus, the latest and screen technology from Samsung. Basically any screen you have ever seen will pale in comparison.
The internals include a 1.4 GHz dual core processor. So that is faster than the current Galaxy Tab 10.1 on the market. It has a sizable 5,100 mAh battery squeezed into the Tab’s 7.89 mm thickness.
For all of you worrying that this baby would be running Gingerbread 2.3, you do not have to worry anymore. It is running the latest version of Honeycomb (3.2).
I will leave you with a picture comparing the original Galaxy Tab with the new Galaxy Tab 7.7. Obviously the 7.7 is slightly larger but is still graspable with one hand.
